AgroSpring 2018 has opened a new agricultural season!

Almost 18 000 agrarians from all Ukrainian regions and 23 foreign countries have begun a new agricultural season with visiting of the 8th international exhibitions “Grain Tech Expo”, Agro Animal Show” and “Fruit.Vegetables. Logistics”, which took place in the International Exhibition Centre (Kyiv) on February 21-23. The organizer of the exhibitions is Kyiv International Contract Fair, Ltd.

Besides the fact that the exhibitions were held on a new venue for the first time, another new feature introduced by the organizers was a common name of the exhibition event – AgroSpring 2018.

530 leading companies, including 183 foreign ones, took part in the exhibitions. Participants coming from 23 countries presented novelties of agro-industrial sector.

7 countries (Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands) were represented by national expositions, while Turkey and China were represented by collective ones.

Total exhibition area amounted to 28 000 m2.

The honorable guests having participated in the official opening of the exhibitions are: Deputy Minister of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine on European integration Olha Trofimtseva; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine Isabelle Dumont; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine Ed Hoeks; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Austria to Ukraine Hermine Poppeller; Head of Department for Food, Agriculture, Consumers’ Rights Protection and Environmental Protection at Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Hermann Intemann; First Secretary Energy Police and Head of Commercial Section at British Embassy to Ukraine Cathy Cottrell; People’s Deputy, President of Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation Leonid Kozachenko. Opening of the exhibition started with the speech of the Head of the Board of Kyiv International Contract Fair, Ltd. – Volodymyr Ivanov.

Traditionally the business program of the exhibitions was very intensive and included around 30 events, such as conferences, seminars, workshops. According to the organizers, this year’s events were actively visited and there were almost no seats left in the conference rooms. This proves that the topics raised at these events are actual and important for agricultural manufacturers. The events within the business program were dedicated to such topics as seeds, niche agricultural crops, alternative energy and bioenergy technologies, rabbit breeding etc.

Among the traditional events of the exhibitions it is worth mentioning the following ones:

  • The 9th Dutch-Ukrainian forum on professional potato growing;
  • The 4th British-Ukrainian agribusiness forum “Sustainable development in agribusiness”;
  • The Day of France “French experience – Ukrainian prospects”;
  • Workshop “Optimization of dairy business”;
  • International seminar “Effective pig farming”;
  • The 4th Day of a young specialist “Your professional start” and others.

For the first time representatives of Austrian national exposition hold a business seminar “Agriculture – technologies from Austria”. They presented Austrian technologies and products in seeds production, animal husbandry, processing, renewable energy, machinery and bio-fertilizers manufacture at the seminar.

International conference “Management of soils and land resources in the conditions of global climate change” attracted much attention of specialists and was conducted in the format of live Skype broadcast with Arthur Riedacker, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Researcher at French National Institute of Agricultural Research (INRA), Member of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The event covered the questions of climate changes, conclusions and suggestions of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, their estimated impact on agriculture in the world, Europe and Ukraine. Besides, specialists from Germany, France and Ukraine shared their expertise in land resources management.

The conference was organized by Kyiv International Contract Fair, Ltd., French Chamber of Commerce and Representative office of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Ukraine.

On February 21 the awarding ceremony of the 9th all-Ukrainian contest “Agrobrand 2018” was held by Management team of the agrarian exhibitions together with Association “Ukrainian Agribusiness Club” within the exhibitions. By means of questionnaire survey among agricultural manufactures, the winners in the following nominations were chosen:

  • “Fodder manufacturer” – Group of companies “AgroVet Atlantic”;
  • “Agrochemistry manufacturer” and “Manufacturer of agricultural crops seeds” – “SYNGENTA” company;
  • “Dealer in the sphere of resource supply in Ukrainian agro-industrial complex” – Group of companies “ERIDON”;
  • “Financial institution of agro-industrial complex” – “PrivatBank”.

In addition to this, another bright memory about the exhibitions is the awarding ceremony “Corn Oscar 2017” and  “Medick Olympus 2017” by AVA GROUP, held on the second day of the exhibitions. Their winners are Private Agricultural Enterprise “Oleksandrivka” and “Agrofirm “Pischanska” LLC.

Summarizing, we would like to point out that AgroSpring 2018 has started on a high level! We wish all the visitors and participants a new successful agrarian season full of new achievements and further development.
